The most sacred of forests to the Östron people are the dark oak, or roofed forests. For a long time there was a rumor that a strange type of dark oak existed where an even stranger tribe of Östrons had settled. This rumor was found to be true after groups of monks from Acholm visited the village of Wiccaweald. Hunters from that strange village of mushroom dwellers lead the party to an amazing place deep in the forest where the trees changed - changed into some twisted hybrid of a tree. Even deeper they came upon a meadow with an enormous tree of this species. The feel of this place lead them to believe that some magic existed here.
They sought to protect it and learn about this strange, queer magic. Thus, they founded the Order of the Groenewardon in the Year of the Emperor 500. They endeavoured to construct a temple in this meadow to serve as a permanent place of study of thus magic, and to train others to protect similarly magical places in the Mercurian Empire.
