A cacophony of shouts erupted from outside the Northubeorc moot hall, interrupting the Regional Name Referendum. Several monks called out to the rioting crowds, calling for a return to traditional values, removal of foreign influence, and even the replacement of the Eorl. The latest winter has proven to be harsh even for Östron standards, with many falling ill to the so called "Elf Flu", supposedly contracted from the wood elves. The veracity of the statement hardly mattered: it reinforced the anti-elf beliefs of many Östrons.

This riot was led by several clerics from around Gelderlond, who have taken this surge of public unrest to push forward their agenda. Some have accused Eorl Kalo as being an "un-Östron dragon-worshipping elf sympathizer". Others simply say he has wandered too far from the true faith. Regardless, they all agree that he must conform more closely to the Order, lest he be removed.

Conflicts came to a halt after several knights rode in and dispersed the crowd, though the conflict forced the vote to be moved to a later date. While the rioting may have ended, however, tensions still remain strong. The next tragedy may well be the final straw.

Rumors from Acholm indicate the militia has been raised in many other Ostron villages. The long winter of 539 continues to take a toll.
