Yep, that's just google, making sure we show up if someone Googles us
I hypothesize that the reason we see them so much is that we're a) a pretty new site and b) generating a fair amount of new activity and traffic that needs archiving.

Yep, those are bad; we need to get the old application form back. It was great at weeding out bots, but sadly I don't know how to implement it. Perhaps Atryl might. |

So, just to clarify, these bots are different from the bots that register spam accounts. Most of these bots seem to be webcrawlers, and it's a good thing they're here so that we can be found online more easily (ie through a Google or Bing search, both of which have bots that are frequently seen on the forums.) Baidu-Spider is, apparently, a bot belonging to one of China's largest search engines. These ones are different from the bots that spam account requests, which are super annoying and sometimes drown out potentially real applicants. Those are bad. |
