Ahh, British things.

So, I'm on my way back from a local pub in south london, working class community. After making friends and already being recognized as a 'regular' (because I have been there three days in a row?), I stumbled back to my airbnb. I'm staying on a street called "Fox Hill". And what do I see? Hanging out on the road, the road on a hill rather, is a fox, staring at me. A fox, on a hill, on a street named Fox Hill. Alright, I'm amused.

I then make my way to my door. These are the keys I used to open my ancient house. These keys look like something out of a cartoon. Oh, Britain. You are pretty cool.

Tipping isn't really a thing over here because bar/wait staff are paid a wage that people can actually live on. No need to make up for shitty employers paying £0.04 an hour. Exception to that is during a particularly busy period in a pub, you can tell the bartender to 'Put one in for themselves' if you find you aren't waiting for very long to get your drink. They will then put £1 in a tip jar for themselves later on.

Unless the person put an absolutely stellar effort into their service for you, I don't tip. Im there for service. They get paid to do a job which by default should be done well. You want extra? Fucking earn it.

Good to know! Awesome. This bartender, who I have chatted with for a couple of nights now, claims their pay is shit and can barely get by. But, perhaps they were just sizing me up. Damn, did I get fleeced out of a pound or so? Damn!
