Hey everyone, since the mapping increased in resent times, I would like to suggest implementing "Dynmap" for our server. It works like googlemaps. You can implement it on our website. If ppl want to, you can live track were ppl are right now. Additionally this program would give us a map with all areas of intrest at the same time and not just bits and pieces. Since our server is running with spigot I would suggest using the spigot version of it. https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/dynmap.274/ Main Thread: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/ma ... -minecraft EDIT: An additional benefit would be the fact, that no player has to install any mods, since the mapping is done on server side. |

I like the sound of Using DynMap, but the performance impact would likely be huge. Given the size of the world file, DynMap renderings would need to be so infrequent as to render it useless as a realtime map of the world and players. I haven't used it myself in a year or two so newer versions might be better at this but just something to think about |

It will start rendering the map while people run around. Only the parts of our "giant" map will be rendered, where actually a player passed through, so the map won't be that big. Also you can set the programm to update the "map" only from time to time while keeping the track of ppl close to live. |

I would personally be against this as I fear it may impact performance/ cause lag |

It depends a bit on the skills of our server admin and on the specific specs of the server. You can soften preformance issues by a lot. |

I loved Dynmap for a smaller server I was on but I also would be worried about performance issues as Dynmap eventually had to be removed when our server grew too large. |

I suggested this a while ago and the same problem was listed: too many fear that the server may take a lag hit, which is a perfectly fine reason to not use the plugin. |

We could experiment with it, see how it goes with some tests. If it allows us to get some google map level topography from it, even if its just a static image, then i'm ok with that! |

As Samaia said, use it as a static image that updates every 12 hours or so. |

Would be sufficant in my opinion aswell. The live tracking is just a bonus, which we not really need, since EVERYONE is on mumble! |
